Your Homestay Program will include:

• Selection of your host family home
• One way airport transfer to host family home
• Orientation and counseling throughout your stay
• Participation in host family activities
• Development of your communication skills through daily use
• A semi/private or private room
• All meals in home

Rules for Homestay Participants:

1. Your homestay experience is to be regarded as a sharing of cultures and not simply as room and board accommodations.
   
2. As part of the family, you will be expected to help with household chores, keep your room clean and prepare an occasional meal for yourself.
   
3. You must be willing to abide by the house rules of your host family and the laws of the community.
   
4. Students who smoke are to do so only outside the house unless given permission to smoke inside by the family. Absolutely no smoking is permitted in your bedroom.
   
5. Driving a host family vehicle is not permitted.
   
6. Drinking alcoholic beverages is prohibited if you are under 21 years old. If you are 21 or older you may drink in your host home if it is offered by your family.
   
7. Meals are served on the family�fs schedule. You are responsible for meals eaten outside the home unless invited out by your host family.
   
8. Overseas calls must be made collect or with a telephone card
   
9. You are responsible for using public transportation to and from classes, for touring and recreation unless your host family volunteers to drive you.
   
10. You will stay with your originally assigned host family unless a move is arranged by mutual agreement between your host family, the Hawaii Homestay staff, and yourself.
    
11. All financial arrangements between participants and families are to be made exclusively through Hawaii Homestay.
    
12. Hawaii Homestay reserves the right to remove any student from a home and cancel his/her program if the rules cannot be followed.

Application requirements:

• Completed application including letters of introduction and purpose - six weeks prior to arrival date
  
• Non-refundable registration fee of $200 due with application (tuition due no later than one week before arrival - see financial agreement)
  
• Signed financial agreement due with application (homestay students staying one month or longer only)
  
• Passport and student visa if enrolled full-time in English as a Second Language school (I-20 issued by the school)
  
• Passport and tourist visa for short term homestay
  
• Health insurance
  
• Signed Rules & Agreement for Homestay Participants
